PPDS pushes the boundaries of digital advertising with the powerful Signage 5000 Series, debuting at ISE 2026.
- AI Integration: The new Philips Signage 5000 Series is the first in the lineup to feature a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of 6 TOPS, ensuring smooth AI application performance without slowing down the system.
- Versatile Hardware: Ranging from 32″ to 98″, these displays offer UHD resolution and high brightness, designed for 24/7 reliability in sectors like transportation, retail, and corporate environments.
- Future-Proof Design: Built on Android 14 with a focus on sustainability, the series features a modular “dual architecture” for longer product life and cloud-based control via the Philips Wave ecosystem.
Artificial intelligence has systematically woven itself into the fabric of modern technology, transforming everything from our smartphones to our home appliances. Now, the revolution has reached the public square. PPDS, the exclusive global provider of Philips Professional Displays, is set to unveil its latest breakthrough: the Philips Signage 5000 Series (D-Line). This new line represents a significant leap forward, introducing the brand’s first “AI-ready” digital signage designed to make public advertising and information display smarter, faster, and more efficient.
The Dawn of AI-Ready Signage
Scheduled for its public debut at ISE 2026 in Barcelona, the Philips Signage 5000 Series is not merely a screen upgrade; it is an internal overhaul. At the heart of this evolution is the integration of a Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This specialized hardware is capable of performing 6 TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second).
In practical terms, this NPU acts as a dedicated brain for artificial intelligence tasks. By offloading complex AI calculations to the NPU, the display frees up the Central Processing Unit (CPU) and Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) to handle other operations. The result is a seamless user experience where AI applications run faster and smoother. As Andrea Barbuti, Global Product Management Lead EMEA at PPDS, notes, this innovation is about readiness: “Regardless of your thoughts or fears around AI, the opportunities for businesses are increasingly clear… We have to be ready to match the current and future needs of our partners and customers.”
Visual Brilliance and Versatility
While the internal processing power is the headline feature, the external visual performance remains paramount for digital signage. The 5000 Series ranges from a compact 32-inch model up to a massive 98-inch display. With the exception of the 32-inch Full HD model, the series features stunning UHD resolution with brightness levels reaching 600 nits (500 nits for the 32-inch).
This level of brightness and clarity is essential for the diverse environments PPDS targets, including bright retail spaces, busy airport terminals, and corporate lobbies. The displays are designed for versatility, capable of being mounted in either portrait or landscape orientation, ensuring they fit the specific architectural needs of any venue.
Reliability Where It Matters Most
Digital signage often serves critical functions beyond simple advertising. In locations like train stations and airports, a blank screen can cause chaos. To address this, the Philips Signage 5000 Series incorporates FailOver technology. This system ensures “peace of mind” by automatically switching to a backup media source if the primary input fails. For AV/IT managers, this means the screen never goes dark—a crucial feature for maintaining up-to-the-minute travel information or emergency alerts.
The system runs on an upgraded Android 14 professional SoC platform, optimized for native Android apps. This eliminates the need for external media players, streamlining the physical installation. Furthermore, with integrated HTML5 support via a Chromium-based browser, users can control content entirely remotely through the cloud using the Philips Wave ecosystem. This allows for centralized management of firmware upgrades, playlists, and power schedules, saving time and energy.
A Sustainable Evolution
The Signage 5000 Series is an evolution of the popular Philips Signage 4650 (D-Line), and it carries forward a strong commitment to sustainability. PPDS has utilized a “dual architecture” modular design. This engineering approach allows components to be easily detached and replaced in the event of faults or age-related degradation.
By enabling repairs rather than requiring full unit replacements, PPDS extends the product’s lifetime and significantly reduces WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) disposal. As Bart Wouters, International Product Manager for Professional Displays, summarizes, “We have upgraded everything that made the 4650 and its predecessors a global success… introducing new features and capabilities to support the needs of businesses, including their sustainability commitment, both today and into the future.”
With its combination of raw AI processing power, robust reliability features, and a sustainable design philosophy, the Philips Signage 5000 Series is poised to set a new standard for intelligent public displays when it hits the floor at ISE 2026.
